Foundation stone for International Hostel laid at MU

Imphal, July 11 2016:
More funds will be sanctioned if timely com-
pletion of the projects under the North Eastern Council (NEC) in
the State are ensured, said Ram Muivah, Secretary of NEC.
He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony
of NEC funded International Ladies and Gents' hostel at
Manipur University today.
Responding queries from media persons, Ram Muivah said
that NEC is giving main emphasis on infrastructure, human
resource and livelihood development.
The NEC has funded construction of Bishnupur-Nungba
road, Kangpokpi-Tamei road and Tamei-Tamenglong road con-
struction, he said.
The Council has also funded the construction
of 33 KV power sub-station at Mayangkhang and Mao.
The NEC has also funded construction of industrial work
shed at Bishnupur, Thoubal and Takyel besides providing
assistance to SHGs through NERCORMP projects in Ukhrul,
Senapati, Chandel and Churachandpur districts.
He said that the International hostel at MU is being funded
under its human resource development project.
The hostel in two blocks will be constructed at the cost of
Rs 14 crore.
The foundation laying programme was attended
by Prof HNK Sarma, VC of MU as the president.
