District Level Agricultural Fair organised

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Bishnupur in association with District Agricultural Officer Bishnupur has organised a one day District Level Agricultural Fair - 2018 under the theme "doubling the farmers' income" at Loktak Modern Fish market, Moirang, Bishnupur Monday.
As parts of the fair, a training and an interaction programme was also held.
Moirang AC MLA P Saratchandra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture, Government of Manipur Letkhogin Haokip, Kumbi AC MLA S Bira, Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board Oinam AC MLA L Radhakishore and Director Agriculture Ph Rajendra Singh attended the fair as presidium members.
KVK Utlou and many farmers' SHGs opened their stalls at the fair and showcased mainly organic fruits and vegetables and varieties of flowers.
Speaking at the event, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Letkhogin Haokip expressed concern over the 'existing gap' between the farmers and the Agriculture Department.
"Bridging the gap between the two is crucial and a must to deliver the various schemes of the Government to the farmers.
When the gap is closed, the benefits will reach the farmers and bring about their growth and development," he said.
The health of the society depends on the farmers, said MLA P Saratchandra encouraging the farmers to work hard and adopt organic approaches in cultivations.
He urged the farmers to adopt new approved agricultural available to increase their productions.
Speaking at the event, MLA Radhakishore emphasised the need to increase income generation of the farmers in order to bring overall development in the district and the State.
Farmers at the event were honoured with appreciation certificates while six SHGs were presented a cheque of Rs 10,000 each as Seed Fund/Revolving Fund by the organisers.
