Shomai celebrates Seed Sowing festival

The Seed Sowing festival of the Shomai (Thihgba Khunou) village under Senapati district was inaugurated by PT Maikho, former Assistant Inspector of Schools, Govt of Manipur as the chief guest on the occasion.
The villagers celebrate the day with cultural practices during the festival.
Chairman of Shomai (Thingba Khunou) village while delivering the welcome address prayed to the Almighty to bless the crops of the village as the farmers will start sowing the crops soon.
Speaking as the chief guest, PT Maikho asserted that God had blest the village in different ways.
He appealed to the villagers to be generous in whatever possible ways since generous people are always liked and are praised by all.
He also lauded the villagers for adorning the traditional attires on the occasion which helps in keeping the traditions of the forefathers alive.
The two chiefs of the village blest the seed to be sown and sought God's blessing to give bountiful harvest.
Various competitions on traditional practices would be taken up during the two days festival including slogan (war cry), folksongs, tug of war, traditional fire making, blowing of horns and traditional games during the festival.
