AMSU alleges, office burgled, Rs 58,000 stolen

Miscreants broke into Office of the All Manipur Students' Union ransacked the office before making away with some computers, TV set and cash.
The state of the office was discovered by volunteers of the union when the office was re-opened after long gap of time as a result of the class boycott stir launched by the body jointly with two other students' bodies.
According to the office bearers of the Union, miscreants robbed two computer sets, one TV set and Rs 58,700 in cash kept at the iron almirahs.
Ten receipt books along with some letter heads of the Union were also found missing apart from other office documents scattered on the ground.
AMSU claimed two Computer sets were taken away from the rooms of the general secretary and publicity secretary while Rs 2,700 was taken away from the almirah of the president, Rs 19,500 from the general secretary's and Rs 36,300 from the publicity secretary's almirah and a TV set from the common room.
Robbers might have entered the office from the ventilation above the shutter at the backside as there were no sign of breaking of padlocks of the main doors of the office.
Office bearers of the union could not immediately know the when the robbery took place but the office have remained closed since September 9, the date on which AMSU announced indefinite class boycott stir with supports extended by Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and Kangeleipak Students' Association (KSA), according to publicity secretary, L Rajendro of the union.
But, Rajendro revealed that when some of the office bearers opened the office on December 28, there was no sign of robbing the office then.
Documents at the office rooms of the president, general secretary, finance secretary, publicity secretary, common room and library were found scattered on the ground.
The union will lodge to the police so as that the miscreants involved in the robbery are arrested.
He also said that the Union will declare invalid the letter heads and receipt books lost.
New the union letter heads and receipt books will be used.
