Six NSCN-IM cadres killed, five injured in gun battle in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, October 08 2011:
Six NSCN-IM cadres were killed and five others seriously injured in a shoot out between Zeliangrong United Front, ZUF and NSCN IM at the border area of Taosang and Leisok Village Nungba sub- Division of Tamenglong District.
The Zeliangrong United Front/ Zeliangrong Tiger Force, ZTF claimed responsibility for the killing of six NSCN-IM cadres and injuring five others.
In the meantime, the Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim, GPRN in a press release issued by its Ministry of Information & Publicity expressed shock and paid homage to the brave martyrs and wished speedy recovery to the injured personnel.
The GPRN also shared in the sorrow of the bereaved family members and prayed that 'Almighty God comforts them" .
Further, the government also expressed gratitude to the Zeliangrong Boudi, Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur Nagaland), ZSUM, ZYF, ZWUM, Zeliangrongpui Boudi, Zeliangrong Students Union, Longmai and area Social Workers all Village Chairman Association Longmai area and individually for the services rendered.
On the other hand, the ZUF/ZTF regretted for killing Naga brothers and prayed for the departed soul.
The spokesman claimed that ZUF/ZTF did not want any bloodshed in the Zeliangrong society but the evil designs of NSCN-IM compelled it to do so.
The ZUF also fervently appealed to the general public to know the real motive of the NSCN leaders to prevent such unwanted incidents in the future.
According to the spokesman the ZUF/ZTF, it had arrested nine NSCN-IM cadres today who entered Duithanjang village in Khoupum but released them on the request of Zeliangrong apex bodies especially Lupui Phuam to show sincerity and effort to bring peace and integrity among the Zeliangrong brothers.
Further, the spokesman said that the six deceased IM cadres were Private Kodun, Sergeant Maj Soureingam, Lence Corporal Ashiho Chomi, Lt.Albert, Pt.
Hingba and Nanao Trao.
Adds Newmai News Agency:The injured included its 'brigadier' Sounii Poumai who is reportedly in-charge of three NSCN-IM battalions and one brigade.
The ZUF claimed that bullets had hit the chest of the 'brigadier' who led the operations against the ZUF/ZTF on October 7 .
A team of police from the concerned area police station rushed to the spot today and the bodies were recovered.
The bodies will be brought here and later they will be deposited at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) morgue for post mortem examination, the police said.
