Kangpokpi, September 06 2019: School children in all Educational institutions within Kangpokpi District were served nutritious meal with green vegetables and egg as part of Mid Day Meal under Poshan Maah today.

The Rashtriya Poshan Maah, the Prime Minister's overreaching scheme for holistic nourishment was launched in the District on September 2 at Conference Hall, DC office Kangpokpi by Lalithambigai Kalidas (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi in the presence of all DLOs and line Department officials.

Some schools in the District after serving the meal, had a procession with a nutritional slogan and placards within their respective school areas demonstrating awareness on nutrition and cleanliness.

Lalithambigai Kalidas, DC Kangpokpi said that Rashtriya Poshan Maah is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to address malnutrition with a targeted approach by 2022.She also said that the Poshan Maah activities will be carried out in the District the whole month while highlighting the various activities to be taken during the month.

Some of the key activities mentioned by the Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi are awareness programme on optimum nutrition at respective blocks, awareness campaign for adolescent girls, VHSND, community based events by conducting community health days at all Anganwadi centers in the District, community mobilization and relevant stakeholders, Poshan seminar and workshop including school based activities, Poshan Mela and exhibition on nutrition displaying low cost diet and food diversity, celebration of breastfeeding, rally or forming of human chain, marathon for the cause, defeat Diarrhoea campaign, health and nutrition camp, anaemia camp, breastfeeding promotion.

Other key activities also include promotion of nutrition garden or kitchen garden, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion at village level, proper use of toilet and provisions of water in toilets, mass hand washing demonstration, cleanliness drive, provisions of safe drinking water in anganwadi centres and schools, rally on hygiene, home visits, awareness and mass media campaigns.
