Massive rallies held to end MU impasse

Rallies were carried out in the district headquarters of Senapati and Ukhrul today against the prolong closure of Manipur University.
Today's rallies in Senapati and Ukhrul were organised by student based organisations of the respective districts.
In Senapati town, a large number of students carrying banners and placards marched across the market silently on two sides of the road.
School students in uniform from various institutions took part in the rally.
In Ukhrul, the students gathered at a ground and marched through the streets of the district headquarters today demanding that the Manipur University resumes classes soon.
It has reported that a public rally cum sit-in-protest were held in different parts of Thoubal district today demanding immediate solution of the present crisis in Manipur University to save the career and future of the students.
Many people from different constituencies including Khangabok, Wangjing -Tentha, Heirok and Thoubal thronged BASU Ground to protest against the prolonged closure of Manipur University that had ruined the career and life of many students of Manipur.
Placards which read as "Open MU immediately", "We want peace", "Save MU from politics", "Save the life of Students", "Remove teachers who are against the wish of the students", "Contractor teachers has no place in MU", "Stop staying in MU masquerading student", "Remove Engineering Cells from MU and RIMS", "Let VC in-charge discharge his duty", "Punish VC if found guilty", "Bring Early Solution", "Restore Academic Atmosphere in the campus", "Stop Politicizing Education", "We want development" and "We hate bandhs & blockades" have been used in the protest demonstration.
Many people from Heirok and Wangjing who took part in the rally also joined with the protestors who were staging sit-in-protest at Khangabok New market and took out a rally till DC office Thoubal and then headed towards BASU ground to held public meeting.
One of the protestors while speaking to the media person said that they held the massive rally to save the career of the students of Manipur University and its affiliated colleges.
On the other hand, sit-in-protest and peaceful rally were held in different areas of Wangkhem AC seeking early solution of the deadlock in MU while public of Yairipok Khoirom, Kekru Heitroipokpi also staged sit-in-protest in their localities and took out a public rally to Yairipok bazaar.
In Kakching district, a public rally was also held with the participation of students, parents, various Club and organization of Kakching demanding early solution of MU impasse while a public meeting was held at Ibudhou Naahallai ground, Kakching bazaar.
AKSU and JNGVO also criticized the role play by various political parties saying they are interested in politicizing the issue.
