Two Legal Aids Clinics inaugurated

Two legal aid clinics have been opened today at Cheirap court, Uripok and Malom, both in Imphal by Attamas Kabir, who is a Judge in Supreme Court of India and also the Executive Chairman, National Legal Service Authority.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Attamas Kabir said that the main objectives behind opening the two legal aid clinics is to give legal advice and awareness to marginalized rural people free of cost so as to deliver quick justice to the public by courts.
People with problems requiring legal help can approach the legal help clinics where volunteers are waiting to help people to solve problems involving family, education or other problems like human trafficking and sexual exploitation, added the chief guest.
He continued that free legal should be provided to people living all over the country through the network of legal clinics and to reach the doorsteps of people like Lok Adalat.
Another judge of the Supreme Court of India, Gyan Sudha Mishra said the legal clinics will ensure the constitutional rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India to the people and bring awareness to the large number of uninformed section of the people.
She said that the volunteers at the legal clinics can tell the people needing legal advice how to move the court proceeding in order to seek justice for their grievances.
The legal clinics would reach out to the rural uninformed people who are most in need of such free legal help and bring about awareness to these sections of the public about their legal rights ensured by the Constitution of India, said A.K.Goel, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court and Patron-in-chief, Manipur State Legal Service Authority.
People deprived of the rights would gain awareness of their legal rights through literature and lectures in the local language, and the legal clinics can help to bring about justice faster to the public, added A.K.Goel.
