Woman found dead with slit throat

Imphal, May 05 2017:
A young housewife of 20 was found dead with her throat slit inside her own bedroom this afternoon at Chingmeirong Kabui Khul, Awang Pukhri Mapal under Lamphel police station.
The deceased woman has been identified as Lunglailu Rongmei.
She was found dead by her husband Khuraijam Inaocha alias Zenith (30) at around 3.30 pm as he came back from Kiddis Comer, Chingmeirong Nepali Basti where he is working as a teacher.
Soon after the incident came to light, a police team from Lamphel station led by SDPO O Wangkhomba arrived at the spot and investigated the scene.
The husband and the mother-in-law of the deceased woman have been taken into police custody.
According to people of the neighbourhood, a large number of people had witnessed the dead body before the area was cordoned off.
They also saw a kitchen knife on a bed side table suspected to have been used in committing the crime.
A forensic expert team conducted inquest of the dead body as well as the room where she was found dead.
Later, angry womenfolk of the locality vandalised household properties of K Inaocha as they suspected that he committed the crime in cahoots with his mother.
The angry womenfolk had a heated argument with police as the latter brought out the dead body.
A minor confrontation broke out as they tried to prevent police from taking the dead body to RIMS mortuary.
Nonetheless, the police team managed to take the dead body to RIMS mortuary at around 6.10 pm.
Some people of the neighbourhood said that Lunglailu Rongmei who hailed from Chinikol village, Bishnupur got married to K Inaocha about a year back after elopement.
They reportedly saw Lunglailu at her own courtyard at around 9 am today while the mother-in-law was seen returning from a traditional feast at around noon.
Meanwhile, a large number of police including women personnel have been deployed in the neighbourhood to thwart any untoward incident.
On the other hand, a case has been registered at Lamphel police station in connection with the incident.
Some members of the Manipur State Commission for; Women too arrived at the spot and inspected the crime scene.
