Imphal, October 04 2009:
AMSU, MSF, and KSA have urged some departments of Manipur University to immediately stop stealthy classes in the interest of the people while also informing the MU route buses to stop plying in order to avert any backlash from the students' bodies.
A statement issued by the three students' bodies has also announced indefinite boycott of the MU Students' Meet and the Inter-College Sports Meet, 2009 scheduled to be held from October 12 to October 18.It cautioned of taking any dire action against any college or student going against the students' bodies.
It stated that the authority has to stop holding the sports event or it should postpone indefinitely.
Defending their stance of boycotting the MU Sports meet, the statement argued that the government is scheming to suppress the present movement of the people.
In order to fulfill the goals, the government is also devising to split the students' community.
Despite the appeal made by the Apunba Lup to socially boycott the MLAs and ministers, some Congress MLAs, ministers and the CM had participated in the recently held School Meet.
The unity of the students was attempted to break by drawing a demarcating line between private schools'students and government schools' students.
The CM had also a chance to speak against the ongoing movement.
He also said that the agitation launched by the students' bodies is instigated by militant groups.
Notwithstanding the attendance and participation of the MLAs,ministers and the CM, the students' bodies, therefore, decided not to gather all students in an event that has no relation with the ongoing agitation.
Stating that the agitation could be intensified at any given time, the statement also observed that the students should not waste time in sports, instead they must remain alert.
