Imphal, February 04 2017:
MPCC spokesman Kh Joykisan has stated that many BJP leaders tried to ruin his political career on several occasions when he was an MLA of BJP.
Speaking to media persons at his Khoyathong residence today, Joykisan elaborated his decision to quit the BJP.
"After being re-elected on a BJP ticket in the by-election, I opposed construction of temporary market sheds right in the middle of the road at Khwairamband but many BJP leaders disapproved me.
They even threatened that my action would land BJP in big trouble but I fought relentlessly and I won at the end", Joykisan said.
He lamented that he was not consulted despite being a legislator of the party in the process of forming a new executive body which was effected after a new president was appointed for BJP Manipur Pradesh.
Some people who had been working for a prolonged period for BJP were proposed for induction in the new executive body but the same proposal was turned down just because the proposed executive members belonged to Thangmeiband.
Again, another proposal to give appropriate positions to former MP Meijilung Kamson and one former Deputy Mayor of IMC within BJP Manipur Pradesh was also rejected.
"When some people of Thangmeiband were victimised, I approached BJP Central leaders and sought justice but my appeal fell on deaf ears.
Under such circumstances, how could I remain a BJP MLA?", Joykisan asked.
BJP Central leaders promised that a number of development programmes would be implemented in Thangmeiband and promote it as a model Assembly constituency provided BJP wins the by-election.
"After the election, I approached the Union Surface Transport Ministry and the Ministry asked me to submit a proposal of Rs 11 crore for Thangmeiband AC alone under CRF", Joykisan recounted.
A similar proposal for Rs 30 crore was also submitted to the Ministry for Thongju AC under CRF.
While not a single rupee was given to Thangmeiband AC, the whole amount of Rs 30 crore was sanctioned for Thongju AC, he recounted.
Such discriminatory treatment was highly insulting, Joykisan added.
