Convention of trade unions held at Moreh

A unified convention of different trade unions of Moreh organized by AITUC, Moreh branch was held at Moreh in connection with the nationwide general strike on January 8 and 9 today.
The convention was attended by general secretary AITUC, L Sotinkumar; secretary CITU, Sh Shanta, secretary TUCC, Manoranjan as presidium members.
During the convention, L Sotinkumar said that the general strike on January 8 and 9 will be a great success as different unions of the State including workers association and employees organization will manifest their unity against anti-labour and anti-people policies of the Govt during the general strike with the support of several volunteers from more than hundred different parts of the State.
Stating that the monthly income of daily wage workers, contractual and casual state employees, Anganwadi workers, Asha facilitators, VDF, Home Guard, and street vendors are very low under the present regime, L Sotinkumar said that the demand to frame minimum wage of Rs 18,000 per month or Rs 600 per day for the daily wage workers, Anganwadi workers, Asha facilitators, VDF etc, and permanent job for casual state employees is much needed requirement at the present scenario.
He also appealed all the trade unions of Moreh to extend their full support to make the general strike a grand success.
