Imphal, August 03 2016:
The All Tribal Students' Union Mani-pur (ATSUM) has condemned the 'modus operandi' of the administrators of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in the recruitment process of various grade s conducted in the month of September 2015 .
ATSUM information and publicity secretary Micah Kamei said as per the advertisement, various posts of doctor were recruited and in the process, three ST candidates vying for the posts of Assistant Professor were placed in the waiting list despite the fact that there were vacancies in TB and Chest Department, Pharmacology and Anaesthesiology.
Luckily, for a candidate vying for Assistant Professor in TB and Chest, an appointment order was issued on July 21, 2016 leaving behind two candidates.
It is quite pertinent to raise queries as to why the two candidates were left out when there were clear cut vacancies in the department, ATSUM stated.
The union being vigilant on issues pertaining to reservation of seats for ST, no- thing can be done in the dark and therefore, concerned authority at the helms of affairs should do things in a transparent manner to avoid tarnishing the good name of the institution, it said.
"It has also come to the knowledge of ATSUM that a good number of grade-IV posts are being outsourced to two NGOS the Workers Union Manipur (WUM) and Kangleipak Society Service (KSS).
It is learned that 100 plus employees are being outsourced without following the 200 point roster system resulting to loss of ST seats," the union further claimed.
On the reservation row of MU, the union said it is a matter of humiliation on the part of the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University that he could not defend the Central/ UGC norms and the amended Parliamentary Act of 2012 in admission for ST.
The decision of the Academic Council to form a committee on the matter of reservation in admission is ridiculous and unfounded, the union said adding that the suspension of admission processes and resolving to go to Court against the latest amendment Act is strongly condemned by the union.
The Vice Chancellor's assurance of abiding by the 31percent reservation for ST in admission should have been highlighted in the academic council to avoid further complication, it further said.
ATSUM will not remain a spectator if all the grievances are not addressed, it said.
