Government urged to set up educational institutes for orphans

Social and cultural activist Rakesh Naorem has called upon the State Government to set up a school and college for orphans in every district of Manipur.
He continued to say that this step will empower orphans who are struggling to get a decent education and also prevent them from straying into the wrong path.
The social activist was speaking at the 24th foundation day of All Manipur Students Guardians Organisation (AMSGO) held at Old Age Home, Langjing Achouba this afternoon around 1 pm.
Commenting on the lack of debate, recitation and extempore speech competitions for school and college students as compared to 3/4 decades ago, Rakesh Naorem urged AMSGO to conduct such competitions as part of its annual calendar programmes.

Addressing the gathering Sumati Sougrakpam, secretary, AMSGO expressed gratitude towards the public for their continued support and cooperation in all undertakings of AMSGO for the last 24 years.
She also urged students of the State to pay close attention to their duties to help them become valuable members of the society.
Rev Y Renglang Chothe, president, AMSGO stated that AMSGO is an organisation that works not only for the welfare of the student community but also for the integration of Manipur.
With regards to the silver celebration of AMSGO set to be held next year, he stated that the activity report of the organisation will be laid out before the public then.
He also sought the support of the people for the long-term existence and welfare of this organisation.
Today's foundation day celebration was also attended by Kh Mahendra, advisor, AMSGO; H Borbabu, treasurer, AMSGO and Sorokhaibam Sijust Singh, social worker as presidium members.
