Imphal, July 02 2020:
Claiming that the wages for MGNREGS have been withheld and not been released to the workers after a complaint was filed by one individual to the Manipur Human Rights Commission, jobcard workers held a meeting at Keirao Makting Sabal Leikai today and demanded that the wages be released.
A complaint was filed by one person after it was allegedly found that MGNREGS workers in Keirao Makting Gram Panchayat had broken the MGNREGS guidelines while working by using JCB, tractors and other machineries.
The wages of jobcard holders have been withheld following the complaint.
The meeting held today was presided by Moulana Abdul Helim and a committee called Keirao Panchayat Development Committee (KPDC) was formed to strictly monitor the work implementation under MGNREGS.
Further, an Action Committee was also formed under the KPDC.
Appealing to the concerned authority to grant the wages of the workers at the earliest, the meeting resolved to launch strong actions if their demand is not met.
