Imphal, September 30 2012:
Under the aegis of Joint Students' Co-ordinating Committee, a one-day Leadership meet in connection with observance of Lamyanba Irabot Memorial Day was held at the hall of DM College of Commerce here today.
Held on the topic of "Ngashi Manipurda Naharolgi Thoudang", the leadership meet was moderated by A Mobi, President of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU).
Dr Arambam Lokendrajit, Angomcha Araba, Konjengbam Chinglen-khomba Meetei, Phulindro Konsom, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar and Yenkokpam Priyokumar were also present as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Angomcha Araba said that all the people of this state need to get educated for the sake of their motherland.
A student should only concentrate on his studies and stay away from all issues not related with his education.
If we are to work for the welfare of the state we should all follow the path of Hijam Irabot.
Konjengbam Chinglen-khomba Meetei said that the people of the state are being looted by the leaders they themselves have elected.
Even though the state follows democracy, yet the rights of the people are still being violated.
The revolution started by Hijam Irabot was also against violation of human rights.
So it is high time that the student organizations ponder over the similarities and differences in the agitations taken out by them and those of Hijam Irabot.
Phulindro Konsom said that since the younger generations are pillars of the society, they have to be led in the right way.
The ideologies of Hijam Irabot need to be discussed at length and the draconian laws in the state should be abolished at the earliest for the sake of Manipur.
