Kangpokpi Malaria Elimination Campaign launched

Kangpokpi, August 31 2017:
As a part of the inauguration of anti-malaria month 2017 at Kangpokpi District Headquarters, a Kangpokpi Malaria Elimination Campaign (KMEC) was successfully launched today .
The program was organized by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Kangpokpi under the theme, 'End Malaria for Good' at the Multipurpose Hall, DC Office, Kangpokpi .
An action plan and a road map for elimination of Malaria in the district was also launched by the DC, Kangpokpi T Ranjit Singh .
Deputy Commissioner, T Ranjit Singh and Chief Medical Officer, Kangpokpi Dr L Gojendra Singh graced the inaugural function as chief guest and functional president respectively, while District Immunization Officer Dr J Touthang and Deputy Director, Sub-Divisional Veterinary Hospital, Kangpokpi Dr Zamkhokhai Haokip attended as guest of honour .
Speaking at the programme, T Ranjit underlined the essence of awareness on vector borne diseases like Malaria and the need for collective effort in controlling the disease .
Dr L Gojendra Singh stated that reducing incidence of malaria and indigenous transmission of the disease and to re-establishment of local transmission of malaria will contribute in eliminating the disease by 2030 .
Dr Ph Henkhoneng Mate, District Malaria Officer Kangpokpi said that the month of June has been designated as 'Anti-Malaria Month' to take preventive measures against the outbreak of malaria and other vector-borne diseases .
She also highlighted the various policies and plan of the Government in combating the vector borne disease and eliminating the same while stressing the importance of community participation.
