Imphal, June 30, 2012:
Adding more confusion to the controversy marred results of the MBBS/BDS entrance examination, 2012 conducted under state Medical Directorate on June 10 last, it has come to light that two lists of the results were declared when the results were out for the first time on the following day of the exam.
One of the lists was based on the ranking system while the other on the descending marks scored by the candidates.
The list on the ranking system had been prepared by the Selection Board and the one based on the descending marks by the Mumbai based M/s Exxon Automation Pvt.
Officials of the Medical Directorate have a tough time trying to field questions from media and members of DESAM who wanted to know why two lists were prepared and declared during a joint meeting at the hall of R & D Wing at Lamphelpat here today.
Apart from Chairman, Member Secretary and other Members of the Selection Board, parents/guardians of the candidates who have appeared in the MBBS/BDS entrance test were also present during the meeting.
Commissioner of Health Moses Chalai, who is also the Chairman of Selection Board explained that in accordance to the prescribed rules for declaring the results within 24 hours of conducting the exam, the results based on rank was uploaded on internet with due approval of the Selection Board the following day.
However, after it came to light that M/S Exxon too had declared another list, the results have been removed immediately.
As a matter of fact, the results of M/S Exxon is not even kept as office copy in the Directorate, the Commissioner said, while informing that considering the faux pas committed over declaring the results without approval in the first place and then making some rectification in the results declared on June 22, M/S Exxon has been black-listed.
The Commissioner further informed that when the results were declared for the first time on June 11, a week's time had been given for claims and objections.
Only two complaints related to wrong keys of the questions asked have been received.
One of the complaints which related to question no.90 of Series Code 'C' had been subsequently ruled by the question setters and the state moderators after scrutiny.
But the complaint over questions related to Physics was found to be true.
So, for the last time necessary rectification had been made and the merit list was announced on June 23. Maintaining that no other the results but the one declared on June 23 would be applicable, the Commissioner observed that as the deadline given for lodging complaints was already over on June 18, no more complaint would be entertained and now the exact quota of seats for Manipur in JNIMS, RIMS, RDS Guwahati and under Central pool is being awaited for finalization of the selection list.
