Imphal, May 31 2012:
Decrying shortage of teachers, students of Arong High School, Thoubal district today staged a sit-in-protest which was followed by a protest rally.
Speaking to newspersons on the sideline of the agitation held today, some of the students informed that out of six primary teachers posted to the school four had been recently transferred to other institutions thereby severely affecting normal classes in Arong High School.
According to the acting head-mistress M Kamala six primary teachers were posted to the school on December 15 last year out of which four have been transferred this month.
Informing that transfer of the four teachers has reduced strength of the school teacher to only five at present, Kamala conceded that ensuring normal classes has become an impossible task.
She further demanded that a regular headmaster/head-mistress be posted to the school along with posting of adequate number of teaching staff and infrastructure development at the earliest.
setting deadline of June 15 for posting of the teachers, she further cautioned that failure to act positively would constrain the school authorities and students to launch intense agitation in association with student organisations.
