Before this, an intimation of the MPP furnished to the chief election commissioner, election commission of India stated that the party in support of the allegation for large scale rigging in the Andro assembly segment has suspended Th Shymkumar, MLA for his involvement in the alleged large scale rigging that took place on the poll day on April 22 last.
Mention may be made that saying that he as not satisfied with the non-initiation of trial of a case against him, Shyamkumar resigned from the deputy speaker of Manipur Assembly and surrendered to a local court in Imphal on April 18 before the election to the inner seat of the Lok Sabha held.
Shyamkumar Singh was arrested along with two senior members of United National Liberation Front (UNLF) from Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi on October 2, 2006, while he was taking a flight from Kathmandu-bound aircraft.
After registering a case against him of being a member of the ban insurgent group warring against Indian Union on the demand of sovereignty of Manipur, he was sent to Tihar Jail where he contested the state Assembly election in 2007 from the jail.
He won the election a nominee of the Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) from Andro Assembly constituency in imphal east and was later elected as deputy speaker.
A special Delhi court released him on interim bail to allow him to take oath.
Since then, his interim bail was extended from time to time.
However, MPP is alleging that it was a drama he did in collusion with the Congress only to pave the way for breaking the stronghold area of the party (MPP), Andro Assembly constituency where Shyamkumar as party nominee had also won a huge margin.
They also alleged that Shyamkumar's surrendered to the court was done after consultation with the Congress only to make easy to the Congress strategy to elect its nominee, Dr T Meinya, sitting MP fighting for retention of the seat.
While, announcing the suspension of the MLA who is currently under treatment at RIMS hospital as a heart patient from the primary membership, president of the MPP L Chandramani in a press conference, cited the reason for his expulsion as "anti-party activities" committed by him in collusion with the Congress.
The prima facie evidences have been proved that he (Shayamkumar) involved in the large scale rigging and proxy voting in collusion with the Congress party in the recently concluded parliamentary election at Andro A/C.Chandramani further said that the party served a show cause notice to the MLA before taking a decision to give reason why action should not be taken up against him with the charge leveled by the party.
The party also informed that the case of Shyamkumar has been intimated to the Election Commission of India (ECI) as a supplementary evidence of their complaint for large scale rigging and the demand for re-polls.
Senior leader of the party and MLA O Joy condemning the act of the MLA termed it as most disgusting one.
He also compared his mentality to a "criminal mentality" who can go to the extend of killing their near and dear ones for his vested interest.
