Court grants bail

Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has on Wednesday directed to release the vice president of AMSU Imphal East and one other who were arrested on the charge of having nexus with an underground outfit on bail.
Wairokpam Loyangamba (23) s/o Rajen of Lousangkhong Mayai Leikai Lamlai vice president of AMSU Imphal East and Ningombam Khelen (23) s/o Inaobi of Pukhao Khewa Phurju were produced before the Court on the completion of their Police custody period along with a prayer for remanding both of them to judicial custody by a team of Singjamei police.
The Defense counsels filed remand objection and prayed for bail.
The Court after hearing both parties and on perusal of the case record observed that Wairokpam Loyangamba is a teacher while Ningombam Khelen is a student and they have no criminal antecedent.
The record also shows that no incriminating articles like arms and ammunition, demand letters etc were seized from them, the Court observed and added that Wairokpam Loyangamba visited a place under Singjamei police station on the request of Ningombam Khelen.
Saying that the lady who they allegedly meet alleged extortion has not been scrutinised, even after five days of police custody remand, the Court directed to release the duo on the execution of Rs 50 thousand PR bond and surety of same amount each and on the condition that they shall make available for interrogation by the IO as and when required.
