Imphal, June 27 2012:
Debunking the claims of district level officers and block level officers of FCS with regard to the non-receipt of PDS/FCS items for the months of August, September, October and December last year, the Senapati District Consumers' Club has rubbished the claims that district quota for two months, August and September 2011, had lapsed due to the prolonged economic blockade last year.
In a statement issued to the press today, the SDCC said that acting on specific complaints of non-receipt of PDS/FCS items for the months of August, September, October and December last year, a fact finding mission was launched to substantiate the complaints and also to check gross malpractices.
During the course of the fact finding mission, the district and block level officers of the FCS maintained that the district quota for the months of August and September last year had lapsed due to the prolonged economic blockade last year in the hills of Manipur.
Disclosing details, the SDCC said that with the help of the ministry concerned and upright officers, it came to light that utilisation certificates were indeed issued for the items of the said two months.
According to the utilisation certificates, the PDS/FCS items for the months of August and September were lifted, contradicting the claim that they had lapsed, alleged SDCC and added that they were issued under the name of Assistant Director Soso Pule, Inspector N Nabadwip Singh (Mao AC), Inspector BN Lawrence (Tadubi AC), Inspector A Chaoba (Karong AC) .
The SDCC further contended that the quota for October, 2011 has not been lifted even though the deposits have been received.
Questioning where the said items have disappeared, the SDCC said that members of the Fair Price Shop Agent Association of Senapati district including Fair Price Shop Agent of Mao AC, FPSAA of Mao AC, president of Paomata centre, FPSAA of Tadubi AC, should be answerable.
Asserting that the Government should take up fitting action against the erring persons, SDCC said that it will leave no stone unturned to bring justice.
