JAC warns police

Imphal, May 26 2013:
JAC constituted in connection with the eviction of Naga river lane has warned the police to stop using provocative and communal words to the evicted people.
A press release issued by the JAC said that at around 5.30 pm today, some police personnel deployed at the evicted area mentally tortured some victims who are still staying amidst debris at the evicted area.
The police team teased the victims using communal words, the JAC alleged.
The JAC said that these victims are the most helpless group who do not have any relative and anywhere to take shelter as of now.
Saying that the State Government has not opened any relief camp so far for the displaced persons, the press release said that the Government must be held responsibility of any eventuality if such communal remarks made by the police ingite communal tension.
The JAC also urged the civil society organisations particularly tribal bodies to join hand in opposing the State Government's move.
