Moirang police nab hit-and-run accused

Moirang, June 25 2020:
A team of Moirang police while conducting frisking and checking at the Police Station gate seized an Alto car which was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run case that took place on June 17, 2020 .
The car was stopped by the police when they saw the windshield and front portion of the car were damaged in a suspicious manner.
On enquiry, the driver identified as Paonam Ramachandra stated that he was taking the car to his workshop for repair.
On further investigation, it was found that a broken piece of bumper collected from the workshop was an 'exact' match with a piece of broken bumper seized from the spot of a hit-and-run case which took place on June 17 .
One Hemam Manichandra Singh, aged 55, s/o (L) H Hemaiba Singh of Moirang Okshongbung Leikai was hit by a vehicle on June 17 and died on the spot.
The Moirang police have been making all efforts to nab the culprit ever since.
On finding that the two pieces of bumper stickers were a match, the police have arrested the owner of the car Oinam Surash Singh, aged 41, s/o (L) O Mangi alias Mangijao Singh of Ningthoukhong ward No 13 who was driving the car on the particular night.
Further investigation is under process.
