Womenfolk beat up accused

A sudden furore broke out at Cheirap Court complex today as a large number of womenfolk beat up an accused when police escorted him to appear before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West.
Accused Pangabam Roshan (22) s/o P Anand of Yairipok Kaina Poiroukhongjin is said to be involved in the missing of Kangabam Abungcha alias Anilkumar (15) s/o Muhindro of Takyel Khongbal Moirangthem Leikai.
Even as Roshan was brought inside the Court complex by a police team, a large number of womenfolk of Abungcha's locality stormed towards the police vehicle and beat up Roshan asking him to bring back the missing teenager.
However, police controlled the mob and Roshan was produced before the Court in connection with the case of missing of Abungcha.
According to an irate woman present at the Court complex, Abungcha has been missing ever since he was allegedly taken away by Roshan on the pretext of providing work in a transport service at Moreh on June 1 last.
President of JAC Abungcha Kanba Lup, H Chaobihan said, Abungcha's family started getting suspicious after the teenager never picked up the phone very time they made calls.
One day, Roshan picked up the phone instead of Abungcha and told Abungcha's parents that he was busy with his transport works.
Roshan came again for the second time at Takyel Khongbal locality to pick up three more boys who are the age group of 14 to 15 years.
He was immediately caught by local people and handed over to Lamshang Police Station.
After his arrest, another person Laishram Naobicha alias Makung (25) s/o Ingocha of Heirok Part II Laishram Leikai has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the case.
Naobicha was also produced before the Court.
Abungcha is the only son among three siblings.
