Mass protest rally and public meeting at Ringui village, Ukhrul

Ukhrul, September 22 2019:
A mass protest rally and public meeting organised by Ringui Women Society Ukhrul was held at Ringui village in Ukhrul district which was participated by about 150 women and men including girls.
The main objectives of the programme was to sensitize the people of the area on the increasing crime against women, attack to human right defenders and family specially the July 4 attack on U Natacha and the July 24 gun attack to WAD.
Reverend Arui, Pastor Ringui Baptist Church, Phillimon Ahun village elder, Tammina Women Chairperson, Ringui Baptist Church, Ruth, Secretary Ringui Women Society, Sobita Mangsatabam, Secretary Women Action for Development, Priyadarshini M Gangte, Lecturer Damdei Christian College respectively were present as presidium members and resource persons.

Phamila Tuithung shared on the topic "Women and Drug issues", Ng Liklaileima on the topic "Role of Media in preventing Crime against Women", Priyadarshini M Gangte on the topic "Customary practices among the tribal community", Sobita Mangsatabam on the topic "Gender Based Violence in Manipur".
The increasing Crime against Women and systemic attack to Human Rights Defenders and families were taken seriously in the meeting and to fight and prevent such crime collectively in the future.
After the meeting, a mass protest was held in front of the Ringui Church using different slogans to stop attack to Human Rights Defenders and prevent crime against women.
