State's first child friendly PS inaugurated

The chairperson of Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), Sumatibala Ningthoujam inaugurated the State's first "Child Friendly Office/Police Station" at the premises of Women Police Station Churachandpur district today.
A number of district level officials including the Deputy Commissioner along with several other police officials and authorities of Childline, Child Welfare Committee, District Juvenile Justice Board and District Child Protection Office attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Sumatibala Ningthoujam commended the district police for instituting the first child friendly office within the district police station.
Efforts will be made by the commission to emulate the office in all other Police Stations of the State, she said while adding that every possible steps should be taken to take care of the children who are the future of tomorrow.
Lauding the district police for setting up a child friendly office, Deputy Commissioner Shyam Lal Poonia said that the authorities concerned should be encouraged to set up such friendly office in other Government offices as well.
The child friendly office launched by the district Police Churachandpur incorporate a child friendly ambience with provision of toys and other child specific amenities.
The office will be used for children without any discrimination, whether they may be victims or perpetrators of crime.
The office will also be used for those children brought by their parents, to make them feel ease with their stay at the police station and not be left traumatised, said officials.
