The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal West
today put up the case against accused Khulem Jiten and Chesam
Abdul Salam before the Session Judge for the murder of Khulem
Tomba at Langol Punshi Leikai on July 27 last year.
The victim Khulem Tomba of Langol Punshi Leikai is an
uncle of Khulem Jiten who was earlier sentenced to life
imprisonment by the Session Judge of Imphal West on September
18 last year in yet another murder case of an uncle
Khulem Krishnamohan and attempting to murder another uncle
Khulem Priyobarta in the evening of June 30, 2015.
Khulem Tomba who is presently lodged at Sajiwa Central
Jail while the co accused Cheasam Abdul Salam who is on
bail appeared before the Court today.
Relevant papers of the charge sheet were furnished to the
accused by the Court.
Khulem Jiten prayed for time as he is yet to engage his
own counsel for the trial.
The Court in reply pointed out that the matter has been
pending on the same ground and the only requirement is to
take proceedings of a murder case which is exclusively triable
by the Session Judge Court.
A legal aid counsel of the Court then represented Khulem
Jiten for committal hearing today.
Court heard in length and also perused the record and put
up the case before the Court of Session Judge of Imphal West
for trial.
It may be mentioned that the accused allegedly murdered
his uncle Khulem Tomba on July 27 last year while he was
out on bail in connection with the previous case of murdering
another uncle and injuring another for which the Session
Court of Imphal West had awarded life imprisonment.
