Imphal, January 22 2017:
Indian military forces deployed in Manipur are aware about the presence of NSCN-IM camps in the State but they have a tacit understanding with the rebel group, asserted Manipur National Democratic Front (MNDF).
Speaking at an election rally of Yumnam Romola who would be contesting the forthcoming election on MNDF ticket in Keishamthong AC, MNDF working president Bijoy Koijam asserted that the State Government should take up befitting action as NSCN-IM has started targeting civilians in Manipur.
As for the Central military forces deployed in Manipur, they have no intention to protect the citizens of Manipur, Bijoy said at the political convention held at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai community hall.
Rather than working sincerely to resolve the protracted issue of UNC's indefinite economic blockade, the State Government and the Central Government have been shirking responsibilities and blaming each other, Bijoy Koijam said.
Even though goods are being shipped in along Imphal-Jiribam highway with security escorts, people have been still enduring acute shortage of essential commodities.
As such, many people cannot help questioning the competency and efficiency of the incumbent Government.
MNDF is the only party which is totally devoted to the issues of the State and its high command is the people of Manipur, Bijoy asserted.
People of Manipur were living together in complete harmony since time immemorial.
But today, electoral politics have been drawing a line of division between the hills and the valley, he added.
MNDF senior vice-president K Khogendra pledged that they would make all efforts to resolve all outstanding issues which have been either overlooked or marginalised by successive rulers of the State.
MNDF vice-president Lien Gangte said that people of the State need to ponder over how much National political parties empathise with them.
He then asked what happened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 100 days programme which also included Imphal-Jiribam highway.
The political conference was presided by MNDF president Ch Priyokumar.
