Active participation of troops of AR & civilians mark 4th International Day of Yoga

The celebration of 4th International Day of Yoga today was a culmination of week long activities related to Yoga carried out by troops of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).
Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (S) coordinated participation of all Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs) and families at the massive State level event organised by Directorate of AYUSH and Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of Manipur at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
The AR personnel along with CRPF, BSF and CISF joined the civil populace and participated in the Common Yoga Protocol conducted at the stadium which was followed by a 10 km run.
450 personnel of CAPFs and families participated in the event.
Yoga Day was celebrated at various locations of Imphal by 9 Sector Assam Rifles including Mantripukhri, Keithelmanbi, Thoubal and Tulihal including their Company Operating Bases.
The events saw active participation of more than 1200 troops and over 3000 locals including Meira Paibis and children.
Keithelmanbi Bn facilitated Yoga events at Lagthabal Kunja Community Hall, Arapti Community Hall, Singjamei Company Base and Kasturba Gandhi Girls High School, Andro.
Mantripukhri Bn organized yoga sessions at Mantripukhri, Chingmeirong, Koirengei, Achanbigai, Mogjam and Sawombung.
Phundrei Bn organised Yoga Session for all ranks at Thoubal, Yairipok, Chandrakhong and Upper Khoripok Company Operating Bases.
The unit saw active participation from clubs like Bishnunha Youth Federation United, Lairongthel Panthoibi Youth Club, Panthoibi Friend Club and Sangpunram Youth Club.
Tulihal Bn actively participated with students of Bhakti Vedanta Senior Secondary School, NCC students of Nambol Higher Secondary, Sanjenbam High School and also collaborated with Bharat Swabhimaan and Patanjali Yog Samiti to organize Yoga at Konthuojam Community Hall.
The units of 26 Sector AR celebrated Yoga Day at various villages of Chandel and Tengnoupal districts at Pallel, Moreh, Tengnoupal, Khudengthabi, Khongkhang, Chandel, Machi, Larong, Bongyang and Moltuk and saw a participation of 1923 individuals including locals, AR personnel, teachers and students.
The day was also celebrated at Assam Rifles Public School, Pallel wherein 126 individuals participated in including two Yoga teachers from Bharat Swabhimaan Nyas (Patanjali).
10 Sect AR saw participation of more than 1500 troops and families across remote and far flung areas of Ukhrul.
Yoga sessions were organized by trained instructors of AR in Somsai, Shangshak and Chassad.
The event was aimed to promote Yoga as a tool for empowering the armed personnel, who face constant stress and associated hazards.
28 Sector AR celebrated the day at various locations of Kakching and Chandel district.
The units at Sehlon, Joupi, Kakching and Sajik Tampak and their Company Operating Bases saw a participation of 1400 troops and 800 teachers and students.
Sajik Tampak Bn conducted a monsoon marathon followed by Yoga class which saw a participation of more than 200 children from the villages of Sajik Tampak, Haika, Paldai and Glengai.
Sehlon Bn celebrated the day with school children of Kovang village.
Meanwhile, Khuga Bn organised a 'Yoga Awareness Camp' at Khuga, Churachandpur, under the aegis of Churachandpur Sector of AR.
The camp aim at promulgating awareness regarding vedic Yoga and promote a holistic approach towards health & well-being of local population.
Similar camps were also organized in Thinghat and at the border villages of Theigotang, Zoukhonou, Heingtam Khonou including ZRA SoO camp at New Teikot to spread awareness.
Various Aasanas and Kriyas were taught to the participant and the importance of each was emphasized upon.
To enhance awareness & increase assimilation among attendees, a movie on 'Ancient Yoga' was screened and various handouts & pamphlets were also distributed during the event.
Later,-a lecture was conducted on importance of PAN, Aadhar card & various Govt schemes.
796 participants attended the camp.
Lakhimpur Bn, under the aegis of 27 sector AR celebrated 4th International Yoga Day as part of yoga week from June 15.Qualified doctors from Dept of AYUSH, Dr Susanta and Dr Rohit with Army MO went to all COBs to educate the villagers and troops with respect to Yoga & its benefits.
COB Singhat, Khuga, Behang, Muallam, Baulkot, Songdu and Songdai celebrated the event with participation from the villagers.
AYUSH doctors explained the ancient way of relaxing and strengthening the body and mind by means of breathing exercises and asanas.
During the sessions conducted by the instructors from department of AYUSH, a total of 3045 people participated which implies inclination, magnitude & growth of village population towards Yoga.
Battalions of Loktak Brigade under Red Shield Division organised Yoga classes in their respective Bn Headquarters and COBs.
Towards promoting the art of healthy living through the medium of Yoga Asana, several Yoga camps were organised at various locations from June 17 onwards.
In Khoupum valley and surrounding areas, Khongbung Bn organised Yoga camps at L Khunao, Khoupum Chintak, Pinjang, Nungbai, Gaidimjang, Toushang and Bishnupur.
Local NGOs were also incorporated in the planning and execution of Yoga activities.
Similarly, Noney Bn also organised Yoga activities incorporating local schools at Noney, Kotlen, Kangchup, Lamdangmei, Tupul and Haochong for spreading the message.
Yoga classes by instructors of N Khunao Bn were organised at Ningthoukhong Govt School and Modern School at Nuggarg Toubul village.
The Bn also jointly celebrated Yoga Day with the villages of far-flung areas of Leimatek, Upper Ngaryan and Limaton.
Sendra Bn organised Yoga classes incorporating the villagers at Kumbi, Moirang Khunou, Komlakhong, Kangvai, Gothal and Ningthiching which were appreciated by the locals.
Trained Yoga instructors from State Yoga Association, Imphal namely Raj Kumar Koireng and Raj Kumar Swami conducted Yoga session for all volunteers at Sendra.
At Moirang Khunao, the day was attended by Lt S Vijaya Devi, an Indian Navy officer and member of all female crew of INSV Tarini.
The function was also graced by Dheeraj Singh, Goal Keeper of Under 17 Indian Football team.
2200 soldiers from Loktak Brigade and 1422 persons including students and families participated to learn Yoga and adapt a stress free life.
