Imphal, January 19 2018:
Taking stock of the declining popularity of various Government schemes due to lack of awareness, the State Government is taking up necessary measures to ensure proper coordination between the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and the related Departments so that awareness on various schemes can be dispersed to the public with greater ease and efficiency.
According to information received by The Sangai Express from an official source, most of the schemes, specially those meant for the poor and the impoverished people, have not been able to reach the desired impact although various Government Departments have launched and are managing numerous schemes.
The source pointed out that a glaring example of the failure of the said schemes can be seen from the recent trend during Miyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day.
Although these two programmes/days are marked each month so that the Chief Minister as well as the authority concerned can attend to the complaints or the feedback from the people, the complaints are rapidly becoming more about the failure to get proper benefits from the schemes provided by the Government for the people, the source added.
The Chief Minister, giving extra emphasis to these complaints, has taken up the move to spread awareness about the various schemes and all the necessary details about these schemes, to the people more effectively.
The source further stated that lack of spreading awareness by the Departments concerned has led to the intended people/families missing out on the schemes designed to improve their lives.
The schemes are useless if they fail to reach the target audience and as such the State Government has decided to assign DIPR as the nodal Department for ensuring proper and effective spread of information regarding the schemes of various Government Departments to the people, it added.
A nodal officer will also be appointed for every Department concerned so as to coordinate properly with DIPR and relay all the necessary details and information about the schemes of the related Department from time to time.
The source claimed that the State Government has instructed DIPR to collaborate with all the necessary Departments and produce all the necessary rules/ guidelines, strategies etc.
To ensure success and efficiency, all the Departments which handle beneficiary oriented schemes, have been instructed to submit the list of schemes as well as the guidelines, procedures and details, to the Chief Minister's Secretariat and DIPR within a week's time, the source added.
