Imphal, January 18, 2012:
Denouncing the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government in taking legal actions against NSCN (IM) who allegedly involved in the Sangakpham blast, a protest demonstration has been staged at Sangakpham Bazar today.
Organised by Conflict Widow Forum (CWF) in association with blast affected family, CWF Imphal West convenor Gangarani said that the State Government has officially announced the involvement of NSCN (IM) in the Sangakpham blast of August 1, 2011. She alleged that the Government failed to initiate any actions against the said group which is under cease fire agreement with Government of India.
Protecting civilians from unwanted incidents and promoting their human rights are the main responsibilities of both Government and UG groups, she added.
She asserted that attacking civilian by an UG group which is under the peace process with the Government should be considered as an unlawful act and necessary action should be taken up against them.
Providing monetary supports of Rs 30 thousand and Rs 2 lakhs to seriously injured and deceased persons could not bring an amicable solution of the ruthless incident, she said.
