Imphal, August 16 2018:
The attempt to extend Article 371 A, which may be a part of the Framework Agreement should not affect or cause any impact to Manipur.
It would be rather better for the State to be separated from India if the Government stand against the needs of the people of the State.
This was stated by Th Ramani, All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) president during a sit in protest today.
The sit in protest was organised by Nupi Lup Kwakeithel Ngannapi Thong Mapal demanding protection of State's integrity.
Speaking to media persons, Nupi Samaj president Th Ramani stated that Article 371 A, which may be a part of the Naga Peace Accord, should be confined to Nagaland only.
The authority concerned should not indulge in any actions which can harm the interest and integrity of the State, she warned.
She urged the leaders and authority concerned to call an Assembly session immediately so that the demand and need of the people are executed at the earliest.
The president of Nupi Samaj asserted that peace and tranquillity will prevail in Manipur and people will not be riled up or hold dharnas or other different agitation when the State Government take the demands of the people seriously.
She questioned if it is not the right time for the ruling as well as the opposition to take a firm stand together and warn the Central Government that the State will separate from the country if it fails to heed the demands of the people.
Ramani cautioned that the people will bear grave impacts if the State Government keeps waiting all the time for the Central Government to take necessary decision for the alleged welfare of the State.
She reiterated that any issues regarding Article 371 A should be confined only in Nagaland and warned against any attempt to involve Manipur in connection to Article 371 A .
Similar protests were held at different parts of the State against the attempt to implement Article 371A in the State.
