HERICOUN celebrates B'day

Ethno-Heritage Council (HERICOUN) celebrated its 11th foundation day celebration and final episode of 4th Khangminnasi Eramdam quiz at Hotel Imphal here on Thursday.
Ima Akoijam Janaki Leima, president, MEEKHOL, Mutum Churamani Meetei, president Hericoun, Sarangthem Manao-bi (Khoiranthaba), member, International Bar Association, London and International Human Rights Committee, London and H Ibotombi Khuman, advisor, IPSA shared the dais at the occasion.
Giving key note address of the function, Hericoun general secretary Islam Makakcha highlighted that the council was founded under guidance of many leaders and intellectuals with an aim to protect the identity of the people of Manipur.
He said the council has been extending a helping hand to the people during the time of natural disasters like flood and spread of diseases in the state in collaboration with the people and the Government.
Islam on the other hand said that the most difficult task is to find out the actual mode that can save the society, claiming that the society has been deteriorated and hence the role for upholding it must be taken by the intellectuals, calling upon them to take more responsibility in shaping it.
Ima AK Janaki Leima, H Ibotombi Kuman, Mutum Churamani and Sarangthem Manaobi spoke at the event.
Churamani stressed on need of more good people in bringing development and welfare in the state.
He urged the state Government to provide basic facilities to farmers for improvement in agricultural products and inter-state road connectivity and further appealed to it for proper utilisation of fund.
