Thrifty use of energy stressed

Public should careful in using energy as the available energy resource is limited, Principal Secretary (Education) Dr J Suresh Babu has observed while speaking at the occasion of distributing prizes of the painting competition held in connection with National Energy Conservation Campaign at ISKCON complex here today.
The campaign was organized by National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited, Loktak Power Project.
Describing electricity as the backbone of any developed state or nation, Suresh Babu, however, noted that shortage of electricity is one of the biggest problems in Manipur.
With exception to few places, there is no regular power supply in some parts of Manipur.
As a consequence of which no industry could operate in Manipur successfully.
Since the available energy resource is limited, we should not waste it and cultivate the habit of using it efficiently.
We should switch off electric fan, bulb, etc when not in use, and we should understand that electricity does not come for free and pay the bill in time, the Principal Secretary exhorted.
Chief Engineer of Loktak Power Station BK Karan explained that National Energy Conservation Campaign is being carried out under the initiative of Ministry of Power, Government of India to create public awareness on conservation of energy.
