Sit in protests continue at Jiribam

Jiribam, December 12 2019:
Demanding an unconditional release of the student leaders of AMSU, District Committee, Jiribam and MSF, Jiribam District Committee who were arrested by the Jiribam District police during the total shut down agitation, a sit-in protests were staged at different parts of Jiribam, today.
Speaking to media persons, vice president of AMSU, District Committee Jiribam, Mutum Malem Chanu stated that the arrested students were innocent.
Urging the authorities concerned to release the arrested students unconditionally at the earliest, she added that students are the pillars of the future and have the very rights to express their ideas and opinions freely.
Thereafter, W Premila Devi, mother of W Democha Singh, president, AMSU District Committee, Jiribam cautioned that stringent agitation will be launched if the Government fails to release the arrested students' leaders unconditionally within 24 hours.
On the other hand, a similar protest was also held at Barak Circle, Borobekra Sub-Division of Jiribam District demanding an unconditional release of the arrested students' leaders at the earliest.
The six student leaders of AMSU, District Committee, Jiribam and MSF, Jiribam District Committee who were arrested by the Jiribam District police during the total shut down agitation opposing the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Bill in North East was produced before the Court yesterday and have been remanded into judicial custody.
