Village chief shot dead Armyman, civilian hurt in IED attack of PLA

In yet another bomb attack on security personnel by UG groups an army jawan of 18th Sikh Regiment and another civilian wounded when a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded near Tiddim Ground along Tiddim road early morning today.
The proscribed RPF has claimed that the bomb attack was carried out by its armed wing, PLA.
On the other hand, Chief of S Nabin Village was gunned down by unidentified armed miscreants at his own residence last night.
The EID which is believed to have been triggered via a remote control went off at around 8:15 am today injuring the army jawan and the civilian.
The injured army jawan has been identified as Lance Naik Rajvinder (38) of Rajasthan, presently stationed at Tulihal Airport, Imphal.

The injured civilian is one Akham Shanti (60) s/o late A Bidhu of Kwakeithel Bazaar.
Rajvinder sustained bomb splinter injuries on his right knee while Shanti suffered wound on his left calf.
Lance Naik Rajvinder was rushed to Leimakhong Hospital in an Alto car by his teammates.
The injured civilian was also taken to RIMS for treatment.
According to reports culled from the site of the incident, troopers of 18th Sikh Regiment were on their normal ROP duty along Tiddim Road when the IED, which was already planted along the road median, exploded with a thundering sound as the troopers approached Tiddim ground.
In the explosion, Lance Naik Rajvinder, who was walking at a distance of about 18 feet from the road media was hit by bomb splinters.
A civilian, who was coming on a bicycle at the relevant time, also sustained injuries in the blast.
The impact of the bomb blast left the iron fencing of the road median torn apart.
As soon as the report of the blast reached the police, a team of police personnel led by CO and SDPO of Lamphel Police rushed in to the spot along with other police officials and bomb experts.
Around the same time, officials of 18th Sikh Regiment also landed to enquire into the incident.
It may be recalled here that a similar bomb attack, claimed to be carried out by proscribed UNLF, occurred near Keishampat Lairembi Community Hall on September 5, leaving two personnel of 28 AR posted in Singjamei Chinga post injured.
The bomb was fitted in a scooter and triggered through a remote control device.
Meanwhile, unidentified miscreants reportedly gunned down Village Chief of S Nabin at his own residence at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
Though located within Churachandpur district, S Nabin village falls under the jurisdiction of Moirang Police Station.
The deceased Village Chief identified as one Henthang Haokip (60) received multiple bullet injuries on his chest and legs.
Soon after the assailants left, Henthang was rushed to Churachandpur District Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Later on, the body was taken to RIMS mortuary where the mandatory post mortem was conducted.
Along with registering a case, police have started investigating into the incident.
