Pension coverage for farmers envisaged for first time: Dr Ranjan

Lok Sabha MP elect from the Inner-Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Dr RK Ranjan Singh has said, pension coverage for the farmers has been envisaged for the first time since Independence under Modi Government.
Speaking to some media persons at Imphal Dr.Rajan said, the first cabinet meeting of the second term Modi Government at the Centre has approved landmark welfare schemes for the betterment of armed personnel, farmers and small businessman.
He said, the union cabinet has approved a major change in the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme under the National Defence Fund.
He further said, for the better education of martyrs' children in the country, the central government will increase monthly scholarship given to boys from Rs.2000 to Rs.2500 and to girls from Rs.2250 to Rs.3000.Dr.Ranjan also said, children of state police personnel who have sacrificed their lives in militant attacks will now be benefitted under the scholarship scheme.
The MP said, The Union Cabinet's decision to launch a path breaking scheme that will provide pension cover to our industrious farmers who toil day and night to keep our Nation fed is historic.
He said, it is also for the first time since independence that such a pension coverage has been envisioned for farmers.
He said, as many as 5 crore small and marginal farmers will benefit in the first three years itself under the scheme with a estimated financial outlay of Rs 10774.50 crore.
He also said, the entry age of the scheme will be 18 to 40 years with a provision of minimum fixed monthly pension of Rs 3,000 on attaining the age of 60 years.
Dr Ranjan said, after the armed personnel and farmers, the second term of Modi Government has prioritized to honour the contribution of the traders who have made valuable contribution in the economic growth of the country.
He said, Modi Government has fulfilled its promise made in the interim budget by approving a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 to shopkeepers, retail traders and self-employed people engaged by traders whose annual turnover is less than Rs 1.5 crore and registered under GST when the traders attained the age of 60 years.
This scheme is also a landmark one in the administrative history of India for the welfare of the trading community.
