12th State Level Pineapple Fest concludes

The 12th State Level Pineapple Festival cum Sellers & Buyers Meet and Youth Festival 2019 at Thambalnu Market Complex, Andro A/C, Imphal East concluded today.
The festival commenced on 4th of this month was organized by Development Organisation Andro Kendra (DOAK) under the aegis of EBADA & MIDH (Horticulture & Science Department, Manipur).
It was sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Government of India.
Horticulture & Soil Conservation Minister Th Shyamkumar; Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Manipur, MLA S Rajen Singh; Deputy Chairman, Manipur Pollution Control Board, MLA L Radhakishore and Managing Director, Raj Medicity, Rajen Haobijam attended the event presidium members.
Advising youths, Karam Shyam said that they should have love, compassion and energy to drive the society towards a more developed and peaceful direction.
He also advised the youths to maintain discipline at all time.
The pineapple festival gave the youths a unique platform for them to show and imrpove their talents and skills, he said.
Lauding the farmers for their produces, he encouraged them to further enhance their organic cultivation/farming of pineapples and other fruits/ crops.
Taking Japan as an example of technologically and agriculturally developed Nation, he urged farmers to adopt modern innovation and technology in farming to double their income.
The pineapple festival is not a celebration but a platform to educate youths and farmers alike on agricultural needs and scopes, he said.
He also announced that select farmers will be given Rs 20,000 each from his MLA Local Area Development Fund.
About 168 pineapple stalls, 31 canteens and 70 other stalls were opened during the festival.
Manipuri Matam Eshei and 5th State Level Pineapple Queen 2019 contest marked the festival.
