Awareness campaign on One Stop Centre held at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, December 06 2019:
Ukhrul District Administration organised a one day awareness campaign on "One Stop Centre" at DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul.
District Programme Officer, ICDS, Tabitha A Shimray while delivering a keynote address explained that the OSC is for every women affected by violence.
The Centre which will provide short stay has been named as "Ngayin Shim", meaning shelter in Tangkhul.
During the stay, the Centre will provide legal and psychological counselling and others for five days with basic amenities, rescues, etc for ensuring the rights of every women who are a victims of domestic or any form of violence.

Centre Administrator of OSC Ukhrul, Chonchuirinmayo Luithui enlightened on the legal safeguards and the rights of the women.
She pointed out that the women survivors have the choice of seeking a remedy through the customary and State laws.
Chonchuirinmayo Luithui also stated that special laws have been enacted by the State to protect the women in addition to the laws provided by general enactment such as the India Penal Code.
Counsellors, OSC, Ukhrul, V Jurin Grace Lolly explained that children who have witnessed violence are likely to suffer from panic attacks and anxiety.
Stating that any woman suffering from PTSD are welcome at the centre for counselling, she appealed all to spread about the services available at the OSC.
Paralegal Officer of OSC, Ukhrul, Shungmichon Vashum also spoke at the event.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Thomreiphy Hongray.
The One Stop Centre, Ukhrul District has started functioning from October 1 last and it was formally launched on November 15 by MLA Arfred Kanngam Arthur.
The One Stop Centre is a centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
