Climate change action plan report

Report of the State Action Plan on climate change was studied today at a meeting of the State steering committee which is headed by the Chief Secretary as chairman.
After studying the report, the meeting recommended that the report be put forward to the State advisory committee and the national steering committee for final approval.
The report on climate change action plan was prepared by the Directorate of Environment.
The steering committee meeting held today was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Forest and Environment) PC Lawmkunga and head of departments of Fishery, MAHUD, Agriculture, Horticulture and Power.
The action plan which comprised of eight sectors would be forwarded to the State advisory committee headed by the Chief Minister as chairman and the national steering committee for their final approval within the current month.
The different but inter-related sectors included in the climate change action plan are 1) ecosystem, biodiversity and livelihood sustainability; 2) water resources; 3) Agriculture; 4)Health; 5) Forest; 6)Energy; 7) urban and transport and 8) strategic knowledge on climate change.
The action plan prepared by the Directorate of Environment with inputs collected from line departments and technical support provided by Germany based GIZ and the Ministry of Environment, Government of India.
