Imphal, October 01 2012:
At least three vehicles were damaged during the 24 hours Imphal-Moreh line bandh called by the Kwatha Village Authority to protest the alleged indifference of the Government to the suffering of the villagers in the aftermath of the series of bomb blasts at Kwatha Khunou Lamkhai in which one civilian was killed while two other women were injured.
The vehicles were damaged near Khudengthabi today.
The impact of the bandh was felt significantly at the border town of Moreh.
Till date no Government officials have visited the village to hear the grievances of the villagers, adding to the angst of the people.
Earlier, representatives of Kwatha Village Authority along with the local MLA DK Korungthang had met Home Minister wherein ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakhs for the deceased Sangaijao was raised.
Besides the villagers had also demanded Rs 5 lakhs each for the injured women who are undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals.
Since the Government has not agreed to the demands raised, the bandh was imposed.
