World No Tobacco Day observed

World No Tobacco Day was observed on Sunday under the theme Stop Illicit Trade on Tobacco products at IMA Hall, Lamphelpat.
Indian Medical Association Manipur, State Branch, Medical Directorate, National Health Mission, National Tobacco Control programme, Voice of Tobacco victim and CADA jointly organised the function.
A rally carrying placards like No Smoking, Ban Tobacco products was flagged off by Dr L Ashananda, Regional Director Health and Family Welfare, Government of India marked the day.
Dr K Rajo, Director of Family Welfare Government of Manipur and Dr Th Bhimo, V.P Indian Medical Association Manipur State Branch, Dr L Ashananda Regional Director Health and Family Welfare Government of India and Advocate Yumnam Ratankumar president CADA took part in the function as dignitaries.
Y Ratankumar president of CADA said that the abuse of Tobacco is more hazardous than the draconian AFSPA 1958.He demanded that the State should strive for a tobacco free zone when everyone will quit tobacco products.
He also questioned as to how the banned tobacco products are made available in the State and reiterated that investigation is needed in the matter.
Dr K Rajo Director of Health and Family Welfare said that consumption of tobacco is hazardous to health and causes cancer.
Moreover it affects mouth, tongue, throat, liver and kidney.
