Imphal, October 30 2011:
"It was shocking to learn that Works Minister K Ranjit Singh, who was on an inspection tour of various development projects in Senapati district, was unceremoniously detained and an attempt on his life was made by firing at his car by agitators of the so called Sadar Hills District Demand Committee (SHDDC) at Kanglatongbi on October 27", Tribal Youth Organisation, Manipur (TYOM) has decried.
In a statement signed by its Secretary M Benjamin, TYOM maintained that 'it is a matter of sadness and tragic irony that an attempt on the life of Minister Ranjit was made whose love and affection and concern for the hill people is well-known.
Minister Ranjit is one of the few Ministers who have genuine concern for the hill people and this has been testified by his tireless tour of the entire nook and corner of the hill districts.
Therefore, we condemn in the strongest language the barbaric and cowardly act of attempt on the life of Minister Ranjit, Benjamin said, while appealing against repeating such dastardly act in future.
