Ukhrul, January 30 2021:
The public convenience complex constructed by the State Government inside the premises of Town Hall Ukhrul, to attend to the emergency needs of the public was denied access for public use and is always found locked in all public meetings held in Ukhrul town.
The toilet complex constructed inside the town hall premises of Phungreitang Ukhrul for emergency public utility is no longer serving its purpose for a long time.
A private caretaker who owns a shop adjacent to the toilet complex has annoyed many individuals, preventing them from accessing the toilet.
These unfortunate events came into light during a saffron party meeting held at Town Hall, Phungreitang Ukhrul last week.
Ukhrul district BJP leaders after learning the complaints, approached the caretaker appointed by Tangkhul Trade Council to open the toilet complex and allow them to use the service.
The party leaders also explained to the caretaker that the Chief Minister of the State N Biren Singh as well as BJP National spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra and many other party leaders are attending the saffron party meeting that day.
Numerous people from Ukhrul and other districts including party leaders, workers, supporters and well wishers would attend the programme and were in need of opening the toilet complex in order to make it more convenient during the meeting.
However, the private caretaker refused to open the toilet without giving any valid reasons.
The residents of Ukhrul town urged the district administration to look into the matter and initiate necessary action against the caretaker for his misconduct and to reopen the toilet complex for public use at the earliest in the wider interest of the public.
