Cotton plantation in Jiribam succeeds

Jiribam, November 29 2019:
The cotton plantation taken up at Butangkhal village in Jiribam is a success, said Manipur Khadi and Industry Board Member Secretary Nandeibam Jugindro today.
He said that Jiribam is one of the best places for cotton plantation.
The plantation was taken up in June this year under the aegis of Manipur Khadi and Village Industry Board Chairman L Radhakishore Singh, he said during an inspection visit at the plantation site in Butangkhal village.

"The 15.5 acre cotton plantation has proved to be a success and its prospect is huge," he said informing that there has been no funding by the Centre and the State in the project.
Considering the topography and soil composition of Jiribam, there is plan to take up coffee plantation, he said.
He thanked Director of Agriculture and staff for providing technical know how and Director of Handloom, Govt of Manipur for providing cotton seeds for the plantation.
