Anaesthesiology conference begins

A two-day scientific exchange conference on Anaesthesiology has kick started at RIMS Jubilee Hall today.
Home, Tribal Affairs Hills and Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Gaikhangam was the chief guest of the opening function of the conference also taken by the medical professionals from outside the State.
Speaking at the occasion, Gaikhangam stated that more advancement in health care sector could be brought in the State only when medical professionals live up to the expectations of the masses.
Expressing hope that the conference would further enhance the already advanced medical services of the State, Gaikhangam said that Manipur is not lagging behind in the health care sector comparing to other States.
Maintaining that people consider doctors as second to God, the Minister exhorted the medical professionals to continue their sacrifice in saving precious lives.
Expressing concern over increasing number of Government doctors who simultaneously work in different private clinics, Gaikhangam urged these doctors not to do anything which may lose the trust of patients and masses.
Saying that people in the State tend to rush to outside States for serious cases, the Minister assured the gathering that environment for better health care system which could attract patients from outside the State would be developed in RIMS and JNIMS.
MLA Dr Ng Bijoy who attended the function as guest of honour observed that the State still needs more number of Anaesthetists.
Owing to the absence of Anesthetists in many District Hospitals, the MLA said, these hospitals are unable to perform routine operations.
ISA India president Dr Anjam Dutta was the president of the function while RIMS Director Dr S Sekharjit, RIMS Superintendent and ISA North East Zone president Dr H Shanti and organising secretary of the conference, Dr P Nishikanta were the guests of honour.
