SUK distributes prizes for spelling comp

Prize distribution of the 5th SUK State level spelling competition and competition on interpretation of archaic Manipuri words was held at Manipur Press Club today.
The prize distribution was attended by Dr Maisnam Bidyasagar, Secertray of Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur as chief guest, L Jayentakumar Khuman, president of SUK as president and Dr SA Latif Shah, Vice-Principal, DM College of Science as guest of honour.
Giving his speech as the chief guest, Dr Bidyasagar exhorted the students to be the human resource of the State and work hard to compete at the National level.
He also stated that it is very unfortunate that the translated versions of famous novels written by the well known writers are hardly found in the State.
He also said that they had held a meeting with the student organisations not to let young students take part in protest demonstrations.
He also stated that with the help of the students, the Department concerned had managed to control use of unfair means in the examinations conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM.
He further stated that installation of CCTV cameras in the examination centres has not only checked use of unfair means by the students but also monitored the teachers.
The 5th SUK State Level Spelling competition was held in two categories � Class V to VII and Class VIII to X .
In the Class V to VII category, Soubam Rosy of Little Flower School stood first position while the second and third position went to Wang Wang Ahanthem of Tiny Tots Unique School and Irom Linda of Little Flower School respectively.
In the Class VIII to X category, first prize went to Pricilla Thangjam of Mega Manipur School, second and third prizes went to RK Jaishree of Heritage Convent and Yaiphabi Mayengbam of Little Flower School.
In the competition on interpretation of archaic Manipuri words, first prize went to Kh Somen Meetei of Oriental College, second and third prizes went to Y Romesh of DM College of Arts and N Manoranjan of DM College of Arts.
