One day workshop on prevention of substance abuse among children organised

A one day State level workshop on 'Joint action plan on prevention of drugs and substance abuse among children and Illicit Trafficking' was held today at Manipur Press Club.
The workshop was organised by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in association with Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) .
Imphal East DC, Khumanthem Diana Devi; Social Welfare Director, Ngangom Uttam; Joint Director, Bantee Konthoujam; MCPCR Chairperson, Phurailatpam Manibabu Sharma and Member Secretary (Finance Works), Regina Hongre graced the occasion as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Program Officer MCPCR, Samuel Yumnam said that the workshop has been conducted with the objective to raise awareness on the joint action plan of NCPCR aimed at protecting children from falling prey to drugs and substance abuse.
In connection with the above objectives, he informed that a drug policy has been formulated.
The provisions of the policy include imposing a ban on shops selling cigarettes, tobacco products etc in the vicinity of schools, to install CCTV cameras in every pharmacy to record and identify the customers, no sale of medicines without a prescription and so on, he added.
