Lamka, October 27 2011:
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker I Hemochandra called for integration across the state, as he attended the Tribal Research Institute's cultural festival here today wherein he also advocated dumping of the Imphal-centric mindset.
"We have to come out to the districts, and stretch out so as to ensure that there is complete integration of the entire state", he said.
Actual integration will come about only when there is cultural integration, as was experienced in today's event, said the Speaker who also maintained that it is not just the infrastructure that needs to be developed but the mind and thought as well.
In a surprising gesture, that was rare even from the local representatives, the speaker urged the locals particularly from the interiors to step-in at his house whenever they happen to visit Imphal and to feel at home with them.
'My house will be your home and we will ensure that we help you in whatever little way we can,' he told the gathering.
Attended as well by Power Minister T Phungzathang, MLA T Manga Vaiphei, officials from TRI MDCs and district officials, today's festival is one of the most massive cultural events held in recent days.
Cultural performers from all major tribes of the district participated and performed at the event.
